- INSTALLATION
-
- Upgrading to this current version from earlier versions:
-
- If I were you I'd just re-install the door. I've streamlined the
- data files and a lot of the old files aren't used anymore.
-
- Will support dorinfo, door.sys, sf, and chain.txt...
-
-
- Single-Line:
-
- 1. Create a directory digest and put all the reader files in
- that directory.
-
- 2. Create a configuration file and place it in your Reader directory.
- The configuration file should be named digest1.cfg. Below will be a
- sample:
-
- Line #1 C:\wildcat\wcwork\node1\door.sys (Path to your door.sys)
- Line #2 Walter Cade (Sysop Name OR THE NAME YOUR KEY IS REGISTERED TO)
- Line #3 Y (Do you use a fossil? Y or N)
- Line #4 N (Are you using Novell? Y or N)
- Line #5 N (Are you running Multi-Lines with Share loaded? Y or N)
- Line #6 0 (Are you using standard/default IRQ's for this node? If so, put a)
- (0 on this line. If not, put the IRQ number that you are using.)
-
- 3. Create a door(?).run or door(?).bat.
-
- I'm running it on my system as door5.run so here is a copy of my door run
- file.
-
- cd\wildcat\digest (path to the digest directory)
- digest 1 (the executable plus the node number.)
-
-
- ******************************************************************************
-
- Multi-Line:
-
- 1. Create a directory for digest and place all your digest files in
- that directory.
-
- 2. Create a seperate configuration files for EACH node and place them in the
- digest directory. A node one config file would be named digest1.cfg, a
- node two config file would be named digest2.cfg and so on. These all go in
- your digest directory. Samples below.
-
- digest1.cfg:
-
- Line #1 C:\wildcat\wcwork\NODE1\door.sys (path to your door.sys)
- Line #2 Walter Cade (Sysop name, OR THE NAME YOUR KEY IS REGISTERED TO.)
- Line #3 Y (Do you use a Fossil? Y or N)
- Line #4 N (Are you using Novell? Y or N)
- Line #5 N (Are you running multi-nodes with share laoded? Y or N)
- Line #6 0 (Are you using standard/default irq's? If so, put a 0 on this)
- (line. If not, put the irq number you are using for this node.)
-
-
- digest2.cfg:
-
- Line #1 C:\wildcat\wcwork\NODE2\door.sys (note the NODE 2)
- Line #2 Walter Cade
- Line #3 Y
- Line #4 N
- Line #5 N
- Line #6 0
-
- 3. Create door.run or door.bat files. Let's say you're running two nodes and
- we'll assume the the door.run file is door5.run and we have digest in
- a directory off wildcat named digest.
-
- Door5.run for node1:
-
- cd\wildcat\digest (path to the digest directory)
- digest 1 (the executable and the NODE number)
-
- Door5.run for node2:
-
- cd\wildcat\digest (path to the digest directory)
- digest 2 (the executable and the NODE number)
-
- Text Documents
- After you have the door installed you are ready to import up your Text
- documents for online viewing. I have included a sample UPDATE.BAT file
- that I use. You should be able to see what I am doing from that file.
- I also use Platinum Xpress so I just use a semaphore to check for daily
- or fresh new incoming files....There are 8 menu selections for your users
- to choose from. Each text file that you want viewed should be renamed,
- ????????.TXT, all the way up to 8. Room for more <G>
- Each time a menu key 1-8 is pressed The digest door will look for that
- respective ????????.TXT file.
-
-
- Running this door
- After you have it installed you will see that your users will have a nice
- menu descriptions of your choice to use for viewing. I have created some batch
- files in my daily events to even change some of the .txt files on a daily
- basis, just to make some of the text files change on a daily basis. I even
- have the Mag.dat change the descriptions regularily too. Makes the user
- check this information more often. All in all the simple editing ability
- makes this door a powerful and fun door. Many other Text readers I have found
- just would not not let me change them without some Major difficulty.
-
-
- This door requires no instruction for your users. They figure it
- out real quick. You will find they soon become fascinated with this door.
-
-
- My Thanks
- Special thanks to Tom Pruitt and Tim Taylor for all Their inspiration
- in getting me started in programming and helping me much with all the
- Framework and code. Also special Thanks for All the help Marty Duplissey
- has provided.
-
- As a general rule, I am totally against "crippleware" so the only other
- alternative is a key. I also realize that most keys can be broken so
- in the end it's really up to the sysop and the door. We've tried to keep
- the cost down because we know that running a bbs is expensive.
-
- So, what does it cost to register?
-
- How does $10 sound?
-
- Hope it sounds OK cause that's the registration fee. If you like the program
- then send us $10 and you'll get a key and future updates will be free.
-
- We also except credit cards. If you wish to register online and receive
- your registered key online then simply call the bbs, enter door one and
- answer a few questions and you'll receive your registered key.
-
- or,
-
- Fill Out the registration form (REG.TXT), Print it
- out, put a check (or money order) for at least $10 and the form
- in an envelope and pop it in the mail.
-
- As soon as we receive your check (or money order) we will create
- a key for you and put it up for yo on ARTI BBS (903) 758-ARTI
- BBS. Or, contact us netmail at Fidonet 1:398/2 and we'll put it on
- hold for you.
-
-

- Netmail, support for registered AND unregistered users. If you need
